The Hill's Company (makers of Science Diet) has released a new food for hypothyroid cats, called "y/d". The diet works by restricting the amount of iodine in the cat's diet to under 0.3 parts per million on a dry matter basis. Normal cat foods have much higher levels. Ask your veterinarian if this may be a dietary choice for your hypothyroid cat.
